Top 5 Straight-Sided Sauté Pans



A good sauté pan is an important part of your cookware collection (See our article with recommendations on other pots for your collection) . What makes a cookware pan for you might depend on a few factors. For example if you have an induction stove, you will be needing a stainless steel, cast-iron, or specialized cookware (like our copper pot recommendation below) that is induction ready.

However, if you are using a normal electric coil or gas burner stove top, you will have a wider range of choices in materials. What will make the best pot for you will depend on your budget, what you will use it for mostly, and your size preference (Are you cooking large family meals?)

Duxtop Whole-Clad Tri-Ply Stainless Steel Induction Ready Premium Cookware Saute Pan



Made with 3 layers of magnetic steel to draw the heat from any type of stove (including induction stoves) for a good strong heat. It is one of the better looking pans with a high polish sheen. The interior is not non-tick, and better suited for liquids or food cooked with sufficient oil or butter. The interior can lose its luster if not well maintained, but a proper cleaning and polish can bring it back.

This is the least expensive pan on our list. It is a nonstick pan which has its advantages for some people. It is a large pan with very positive reviews, but will lack the level of quality the other pans on this list boast. The cooking surface is not designed for heat distribution the way those multi-layer stainless steel pans and/or copper pans are, but the non-stick layer does make it easy for you to mix the food to ensure even cooking. It is a great starter pan and, if you take good care of it, will still have its uses even after your upgrade.

This is our recommendation if you are looking for a top of the line, premium pan. This pan is an investment that you will cherish. It is the only copper pan that is induction ready thanks to its ferro-magnetic bottom. It is 90% copper and 10% stainless. The lid must be purchased separately.
